Release 2.0
As many of you, I am using quite a few of the Sysinternals utilities. These utilities are very helpful and useful freeware tools programmed by Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell. The tools aim at Windows file, disk, networking, security and process tasks and are well known to a broad community. Unfortunately none of the tools comes with a setup routine, you need to extract the files yourself and create your icons and start menu entries manually. Sysinternals was acquired by Mircosoft in July, 2006. I have collected my personal "most useful" selection of those utilities for Windows and created a setup routine so you can conveniently install them on your system. This package is now called "Sysinternals Toolbox" and can only be obtained here at Lewe.com (Downloads section). The single Sysinternals Tools included in the package are unaltered. Note: The Sysinternals developers encourage you to visit their website as well to get all their tools there. Release 2.0 of this package includes these updates: - BGInfo 4.13 - ProcessMonitor 1.34 - ZoomIt 2.10 Cost: Free Sysinternals Homesite: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx |

It's out there, and it's good. You just need to find it.
I was always interested in free software - you long time visitors of Lewe.com know that already. And I mean "free software" and not only "free downloads" (of software you need to purchase anyways). The palette of free software had quite an increase over the last years. From Anti-Virus software, firewalls and system utilities to complete office suites - the variety of free applications for you PC seems endless. And best of all, most of the free tools can easily compete against their expensive brothers and sisters. However, finding these free products is still a little cumbersome. I recently joined an independent group of editors, all PC professionals, that search, test and publish reviews of free software for the public. We are meanwhile maintaining more than 135 categories of free tools, all amazing products that are fit to serve your system, networking or application needs for free. We are publishing our work at http://www.techsupportalert.com. Check it out, surf around and read about and profit from hundreds of free software products. Here is a small selection of what you will find there: PC Cleanup & Tuning, Desktop & GUI Enhancements, Disk & File Utilities, Home/Office & Productivity, Image Viewing & Editing, Internet & Email, Multmedia, Reference & Cataloging, Networking Tools, Resource and Perfomance Info, Security, System Accessories. |

This new release addresses some bugs and also a couple of change requests that were reported in the forum recently. I received quite a few good ideas and I thank everybody for that. The see datails of changes here. The new release is up and running in the demo. Go ahead and check it out. There are no database changes necessary, so updating from the last version is a matter of overwriting files.
Best regards, George |

I had the idea of an online version of Measure for quite a while now. I can finally present now the first release of my conversion tool right here on Lewe.com.
I hope that the simple and friendly design finds your liking. Also you can switch between English and German. Most of the unit names are linked to a corresponding page at Wikipedia where you may read more details about it. Enjoy webMeasure: http://www.lewe.com/measure |
